Manage Aggregators - Can't Save Profiles on One Account and Login Failure on Another

    I have 2 problems.

    1. I've set up 4 profiles on Feedagg.com, but WTG will not save the details when entered after clicking "Build Parameters". I've checked the accounts carefully and they are properly set up and valid.

    2. I've also set up 4 profiles on Newsisfree.com and these HAVE saved in WTG. BUT, the login fails when I test all 4 accounts. Again, I've checked everything carefully.

I'm thinking that there might be a clash with another plugin and, before I deactivate them all and test each one, I'm wondering if you know of any plugins that do not work with WTG? Or, can you suggest any other solution? It seems odd that I can save details of the profiles for one RSS account and not the other?

    Thanks.

Please check the permissions on your aggregators.xml file. Not being able to save can be a symptom of invalid permissions on that file.

In terms of testing, I always suggest you stop all plugins then test WTG then start other plugins one by one until it fails then you know.

See how you go with that.

    Regards

    Tim

    support ticket filed

    Tim,

I've got a problem similar to Rosebud's number1. After installation: I went to build parameters, entered the unname and pw. clicked update, and got an error message that said "failed to open stream". You mentioned permissions to Rosebud, but failed to mention what the permissions should be on the template file. Mine are 6 4 4 Is that correct, or do they need to be something else?

If those permissions are correct then I guess we have another problem type. If they're not correct then how could they have changed?

    Phillip

    UPDATE:
I found that in the 3rd video, extra tips, the issue of permissions on the template file was added. I corrected those permissions to 7 6 6, and the login details now save correctly.

However, when I tested the logins, it seemed that the program went off to try logging into the aggregator site, and then came back but couldn't process the data. I have sent the support desk a screenshot which shows the error messages.

    Any suggestions?
    Phillip

    Philip,

Please refer to this url about safe mode which is likely to fix your issues.

    Login Failure

    Tim,

Thanks for that tip. It took a while for my web host to tell ME how to turn off safe mode, but that has now happened. When I retried the test login, I got messages from WTG-WP to change the permissions on some files.

After I changed the permissions, the test login process seemed to [I]run[I] correctly, but all five feed sites reported Login Failure. I went directly to the websites and logged in manually as a check, but when I run the login test from WTG, I keep getting the message Login Failure.

Is there something else wrong here?

BTW, Feedage seems to have added a captcha

Great, glad that is sorted. Yes feedage have added a captcha. Stay tuned for the new version of web traffic genius which addresses these issues.

    Cheers
