    Fatal Error While Creating Profiles

    Hi,
I bought WTG a few days ago and I was creating my 15th profiles ( I have a big site, more than 1000 posts ) when I got a "Fatal Error: Allowed Memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1966080 bytes)" message. I am surprised it uses so much memory!

What should I do now if I need more profiles?

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

That is a wordpress memory error, usually caused by the total plugins you are running. Most likely web traffic genius just tipped you over the edge of memory usage.

The issue is wordpress by default only a certain amount of memory space and you get this error if you exceed it.

You can change the memory limits to 64M from 32M in the wp-settings.php file to fix this.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Tim

    Hi Tim,
I am sorry, can you show me the steps to change? Where to change?
I don't want to mess up in there.

    Paul

    Hi Tim,
I have found the wp-settings.php file and opened it, which line of code should I edit?

Try adding the line below or editing it if the line exists with a smaller number

    PHP Code:
    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT''64M');
Let me know how you go.

    Cheers

    Hi Tim,

I have the same memory problem. When I try to access the Manage Aggregators page I get this message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1966080 bytes) <snip> /wp-content/plugins/web-traffic-genius-pro/simplexml.php(255) : eval()'d code on line 410
I edited the wp-settings.php file as per your instructions above but the problem's not fixed.

Also, out of interest, I had a look at simplexml.php and there is no line 410. There are 368 lines only.

    Any further suggestions?

    Thanks

Yes, check that you do have enough disk space free. Failing this, report it to your web host (give as much detail as possible to them) and get them to refer to this thread if necessary.

They will have a solution for it, I am sure. I would appreciate you updating the solution here.

The disk space problem and the memory increase has worked for other users in the past.

You could also try increasing the 64 to 96 or even 128 and see if that makes a difference.

    Cheers

    Tim

Tim, thanks for the quick reply.

I've tried increasing the 64 to 96 but it makes no difference.

I have found a quick-and-dirty way to access the Manage Aggregators page - temporarily disable all plugins (not that I have many installed), edit the settings and then re-enable the plugins.

Also, I'd be interested to know about simplexml.php and line 410 appearing in the error message when there are only 368 lines in the file.

    Makka,

Time to check with your web host I think they need to look at it. Paul got his problem sorted out doing this.

The reason you you get that error about line 410 as it likely includes other php files "included" in the source files. I doubt the issue is there as you should never need to edit wordpress files normally. The wp-settings.php file is an exception as that is a standard file for database entries, memory allocation, etc.

Please let us know how your web host fixes it. By the way if you have a ton of plugins installed keep adding 32 to the number e.g. 64,96,128 and see if that helps. It could be that your web host does not have enough memory to allocate you the extra you are requesting.

    Cheers

    Tim
