    Facebook comments vs Wordpress comments

    Hi there

    Interested in people's views.

I'm building a site, which I believe I can use facebook comments to leverage lots of visitors. Facebook comments in place of wordpress comments on my pages on my site that is.

Most people in this niche will be friends on facebook with others in the niche

So I want to use the power of facebook to get more people. I've seen evidence of this working... tripling the total number of likes to my facebook page just because of one post. Someone likes it, someone comments, and word spreads.

    So facebook comments are good.

But... those comments, while they show up on my website at the moment are actually "property" of facebook. The content is not stored within my wordpress installation. So I'm a little concerned that I could potentially lose a lot of content if facebook was to change their rules.

The other thing I'm finding is that when people post on my page using Facebook then there is generally no notification of this. I'm trying to create a community, but if I am not aware of people's questions it might be a bit tricky.

Interested to know what other people think. The power of Facebook is good... but is it good enough?

    Cheers
    Brett

I would recommend trying out both (regular comments and facebook).

Alternatively I would go with facebook, yes technically facebook own them. Regarding comment notification maybe this is a setting in facebook to get email notification on a page from your domain where a facebook comment has been made? (Not sure)...

Consider blog comments and facebook comments together on a page maybe?

    Cheers
