How do I add links to a Scribd article

    Hi there,
I have a few articles on Scribd now but they aren't doing much work for me.... could someone please tell me
    1) is it looked on as OK to add links to my website in Scribd documents
    2) do I just put a direct link in my pdf or is there some other place to put this on Scribd because I can't find it... except to add my website in my profile.
    thanks, Kerry

    Kerry,

Absolutely yes put links in your documents, and make them prominent as well.

Yes the PDF is the best place. By using a keyword in the username, etc you get the page to rank so people get there and find your content, and then if you give them a nice juicy link (with a good reason to click through) you will get traffic.

Make sure you don't only have a link though, give them some good content as well.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

so are you not really supposed to put links in? I don't mean affiliate links, I mean links to my own content.

That simply isn't true, not by a long shot (at least in my experiece). Again quality content. If you put up 20 words with a link then sure you might get it deleted.

Scribd a while ago (more than a year) went nuts and stopped all links but retracted that policy. Now they freely allow them.

Either type of link is ok. To be safe just watch the balance between good quality content and the number of links.

Heck I put together a decent article and then make the link font size DOUBLE the other text and it doesn't get taken down, so you have to be doing something pretty bad to have content deleted in my experience.

    Cheers

    Tim,

I heard that Google is now able to see Scribd.com articles and create backlinks now that the format has been changed. Is that true, is Scribd now a good site to get backlinks from?

Cannot comment on this as I have not tried it recently. It would depend on the file format you used when uploading to scribd. e.g. a text file would not work. Although with that said I have read of someone doing a test where they had a webpage with no links on it but with the website shown in the text

    Code:
    http://www.domain.com
Remember no actual link was on the page, just the text only.

Apparently google appeared to have read the link on the page EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT A LINK !

I found that very interesting. So in theory it is possible, but I am not aware of this. My advice is to test this, but in the meatime to use scribd as a decent way to get your content found by visitors (who find your article on scribd on page 1).

If it is true that google is doing that, they wow that would be pretty cool.

    Cheers
