Question SEO Plugins or Default Wordpress Settings

I find myself seriously confused at this point. Wordpress asks for Info in the Settings area such as Title, Keywords, Description etc. If you use AllInOne SEO Plugin, it also asks for this. I use SEOBeast for my OnPage SEO because it is great to get my posts and pages perfectly optimized, but it also asks for the same info.

My question is this (Really more than one):
    1. Do I need to enter all this data for each of these areas or should I rather just enter the info for each post or page separately.
    2. If I use the general settings, are all my pages and posts not going to have the same keywords? If so, surely this is going to adversely affect my ranking, since a particular page or post is not optimized for all the keywords, only for one, maybe two.

I really would like to have clarity on this.

    Hiya Ebizmaker,

    1. Do I need to enter all this data for each of these areas or should I rather just enter the info for each post or page separately.
First, let me say that I'm not familiar with seobeast. Now the stuff that is in your general settings tab and the all in one seo tab in your wp-admin sidebar, that stuff applies to the homepage only. So yes you do want to take the time to fill out your general settings (for the home page) and then when you create a post, you'll want to fill out the all in one seo fields on the bottom of the add new post panel. Filling that one out, will optimize that particular post for whatever keywords the post is about.

    2. If I use the general settings, are all my pages and posts not going to have the same keywords? If so, surely this is going to adversely affect my ranking, since a particular page or post is not optimized for all the keywords, only for one, maybe two.
Since the general settings apply to the homepage only, you don't have to worry about this.

    Hope that helps,
    Chris

What if your home page displays your latest post?

It doesn't really matter, Gus, if you've got your blog to show the latest post and the reason is, that while your latest post is showing on the homepage, granted you did the seo right when you created the post, your latest post's URL will be returned in the search results when searching terms related to the latest post. Granted the seo is correct in the general settings, your homepage URL will be returned in the serps when searching for terms about the homepage.

    Hope that helps,
    Chris
