SE Optimised page on a Site with other subfolders

Hi Tim & All the gurus

I have SE optimized the index page in the US folder on a domain eg www.mydomain.com/us for the USA market - Title, Desc-Meta -h1 h2 h3 alt tags- LSi -etc

There is also an index page and pages on the site in the AU folder eg www.mydomain.com/au that have not been SE optimized

My question is when google spiders check out the www.mydomain.com site are the pages in the other folders that have not been SE optimized affect the ranking of page/pages in US folder

In my experence the unoptimized pages do not have huge impacts on the optimized pages. With that said, if you had a site full of unrelated content, I suppose that could have negative impacts. You could make the ua site a subdomain if its really not related to your us market.

However, if your dealing with related conent then optimizing all your ua pages and linking to the us pages could have positive impacts.
