    Static Page and Word Press

If I have a static page, such as my money page (a page that I setup and then no longer update), would you suggest making that an HTML page? I hear static pages don't do with in wordpress because engines would eventually think my page is not current and and drop it in the SERP's. Wordpress is good as long as you continue to post new content? Did I get bad advice?

Any web site will decay without fresh content whether it is WP or HTML...

Thanks for the response. So, I get that I should have fresh content on my website, but does that apply for every page I want to do well in the SERP's? Money pages, opt-in pages and the like?

Take for example this page 'http://www.webtrafficgenius.com/', if this opt in page was targeted to do well in the SERP's, should it constantly be updated with fresh content?

    Thanks for your help.

If you continue to back link the page, you can keep it afloat even without fresh content. One page I have within a web site hasn't been changed at all in 2 years, that gets occasional backlinks, and it gets huge volumes of seasonal traffic, but the page and whole site would be better of if I fed it daily or weekly. I figure that the volume of traffic is what keeps Google's attention.

As Mike said that most of time its about back links your page is getting from important authority websites. For example if you have developed an facebook app and it is getting hype then there are 100% chances that it will be discussed on many forums, IT blogs with link to your static HTML page. Just concentrate on page popularity.
