    Using Tables in Worpress Blogs

    Hi all,

I have read conflicting advice about using tables on blog pages or posts and that they are not SEO friendly.

I like to use tables on my pages, for doing review type sites. Also these would be changed to be my home page.

Does Google devalue text inside tables and therefore hurt your SEO.

    Hiya AMS,

I'm not really sure what kind of tables you're talking about. If you're talking about stuff inside of td tags, I wouldn't worry about it. I've got tables on a few of my sites and I rank well for a lot of keywords so it doesn't seem to hurt. Now if your tables are in photos, or flash or java script, then you start having issues where the search engines can't get to your content. Overall though, if you've got some content on the page, back links and page title weigh enough to not have to worry about whether or not tables have negative effects. The best thing to do is take care of your visitors.

    Hope that helps,
    Chris

    Thanks Chris,

Yeah thats about it don't fully understand it myself lol.

What I have done is used Tiny-mce advanced where it allows you to set up a table (grid) and I have a picture to the left (with alt tags etc.) and text in the table on the right hand side.

I think you have answered my question.
