Question How to Avoid Duplicate Content in Wordpress?

I have read that I should be showing excerpts instead of full posts on a Wordpress blog homepage?

Is this good advice? If so, what is best method or plugin to use?

Do I also need to be concerned duplicate content from categories, tags, feeds, etc. ?

    Hi Joe,

Just go into the post and move to the point where you want the excerpt to finish and add a "More tag". This is part of wordpress. If you are in Visual html mode when editing a post hover over the buttons until you see "Insert More Tag". Then the posts will show from the start to where you placed the more tag on the homepage but will be displayed in full if they click into the post.

I would recommend that. I do not have a plugin off the top of my head that I know of, but I am sure they exist. This method works well.

    Regards

    Tim

If you don’t want search engine spiders to find unintentional duplicate content on your website, put some instructions in your robots.txt file that tells them what they shouldn’t crawl. In WordPress, that means making sure you exclude your feeds and any other auxiliary pages that duplicate content you have elsewhere.
