Hey,
Currently testing a ranking technique (=love this one because it's REALLY quick to implement) that was "revealed" on the seo experts academy launch.
Dunno if this one has been discussed here but you can watch the video below (=Yeah we're all adults here and know EXACTLY what type of link that is):
>> (Video) Alex's Favourite Ranking Technique Of 2011 <<
Tumblr PR7 Technique Outlined In The Video
1) Create a tumblr page with your keyword in it e.g., http://www(dot)tumblr(dot)com/blog/MYKEYWORD
2) Redirect your tumblr page to MYKEYWORD(dot)Com
3) Like high page rank tumblr pages using the tumblr authority code Terry mentions in the video
I'm using the following variation of the technique to get contextual links in the equation:
Alex's Tumblr PR7 Variation
1) Create a tumblr page with your keyword in it e.g., http://www(dot)tumblr(dot)com/blog/MYKEYWORD
2) Create an actual content page with three text posts. Each post is tagged with related keywords.
3) Redirect my tumblr page to MYKEYWORD(dot)Com
4) Use pingfarm(dot)com to ping the tumblr pages liked
Experiment: Trying to get ranked for a high competition keyword
What I've Done So Far
Steps 1 to 4 above and have outsourced the tumblr liking to my sister
I don't want to give away the site and skew the results of the experiment but i HAVE noticed the site creep up 4 positions with no other ranking methods deployed.
What makes the experiment even more interesting is that the site doesn't have the keyword in the domain - It only has the keyword in the meta description.
If any of you have any EMDs that you're willing to "experiment" on it would be interesting to see if you're getting the same or better results using the technique outlined above and in the video?
Group experiment?
Cheers
Alex
