How Can I SEO or Rank on 1st Page For My Building Services Website?

    Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum & need help.

How can I optimise my building services website in the UK?

A lot of the keywords like 'builders Manchester' .com .net .org have gone.

My website just has my companies name in it:

Builders Wigan - Builders in Wigan - Loft Conversions Wigan | Majestic Developments NW Ltd

& when a search is done such as 'builders Manchester' my site is no where near the first page?

How can I get my website on the 1st page at the top of Google?

    Any help would be great.

    Gary

    Hiya Gary,

It's really a very broad question you're asking-- a bit like me going onto a home improvement forum and asking how do I convert my loft to a bedroom with a private bath. There are so many issues to deal with right? Getting site rankings is the same way and there are several components: keyword selection, stuff to optimize your site, on the site itself, and some has to do with the relationships that you build outside of your site.

The real issue might be, if you're the builder, is it worth your time to learn seo? It might be better to hire someone to do seo for you (btw I don't offer any seo services so that's not where I'm going with this). If that's the case, you really have to be careful because there are a lot of scams out there. Ask them about their methods and ask here, if those methods are legit. If they don't want to tell you their methods, pass. Now if you are willing to learn seo, a book, it's free, that's recommended is SEO Fast Start (Google it). Once you've got a grasp of that, you'll be able to navigate the world of seo easier because honestly, there are a lot of scams. Of course, you can always ask around here whether or not something is a scam.

Hope that helps, at least a little bit,
    Chris

Thank You Chris...Do You Know ?

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for that info.

Do you know of any good SEO services that could do this for me?

Or does anyone on this forum/reading this message know?

    Hiya Gary,

I'm sorry but I can't really recommend anyone. I'm happy with the work I do on my own stuff, so it's not like I hang out with SEO guys and I'd hate to give you'd advice that could bite you in the butt. You can try your phone book or a google search for seo plus the area where you live. I'd think that probably a list of satisfied customers, that you can contact would be a good indicator of someone that's reputable but really, it's all due diligence on your part.

One thing that I should stress though, there really isn't any secret sauce. SEO isn't mysterious, it's just a lot of work so keep that in mind as you go to choose someone to help with your site.

    Hi Chris,

    No worries mate.

I've been doing some outsourcing & I've found quite a few interesting ones with UK testimonials.

    Thanks again mate.

If you want to land on the first page then you have to make lots of back links. You can do link building, blog commenting, article submission, or any of the seo strategies because it will help you to rank high in Google.
