The content of your website should be a smart mix of text and images. Search engines (Google especially) like websites that deliver good user experience and since images contribute towards a good user experience, it makes sense to empower the text with a couple of relevant, well-optimized images...A few tips to optimize images:
    - Add Alt tag with your images
    - Optimizing the size of images
    - Add an image sitemap to your website
    - Use thumbnails
    - Do away with any extra white space
    - Make sure you use GIF for animations, JPEG for multi-coloured photos and PNG for icons and backgrounds

You can label a graphic or part of a graphic by inserting a text box.

You can add additional search-indexable data to jpgs and movies before you upload them. Right click on the image, click on 'Properties'. Then go to the 'details' tab, and use the title, subject, tags, comments and authors fields to add keywords. I have tested these and they do get indexed.

When the image is uploaded to your blogs, add the alt-text, description and (possibly) caption fields for more index possibilities.

    Good hunting.
    Mike

It still depends on your content though, If your content or images are helpful and very reliable then Google will give more credit to it.

Text but if their is need to include image than you should certainly add that. As rather than Google you should 1st think for your customers. Over image you can put Alt Attribute which will provide search engine enough info about that pic.
