    Google Indexing Problem

    Hello guys,

Have a question about Google indexing. In beginning of December I bought an old domain, set up a blog, original content, started building links...Its over 2 months now, Ive got about 120 links pointing at the site and still not indexed. Im ranking on page one on yahoo and bing but Google wont pick up the site. I started to use adwords just to see if it will help.

How do I find out if theres anything in the background that im not aware of?

Can you tell me about your experience? what was the longest time for your sites to get indexed?

what should i do? I really need this thing indexed as my deadline is closing in...

    Thanks

    Dan

You don't say where your site is, so not much to go on.

    Hi Dan,

If you'd like someone to take a look at the site, you can post the url here or PM me with it.

But yeah, two months is a long time to not get indexed especially if you're linking to the site. Is there a chance the site was banned in google? If it has been, you'll probably want to hook it into google webmaster tools and then ask for re-inclusion. Either ways, adding google tools is recommended because it'll let you know if your site has problems.

    Hope that helps,
    Chris

    Hiya Dan,

I had a look at your site and took a look in the wayback machine and there isn't anything apparent why it's not get indexed (banned domain). It does look like you're redirecting an old site to the new one and all the content and everything is the same. The old site is indexed with about twenty posts.

Did you try submitting a sitemap to Google webmaster tools?

    Let me know,
    Chris

Hi Chris, thanks for the help.

Yes, Ive added the sitemap, and the crawler stats show the site being crawled.

Yes, I am redirecting, but the content was rewritten and although it has some similarity it's different. Do you think it would help if I take dont the content on the old one?

    Thanks

    Dan

    Hiya Dan,

The way I found the other site was by searching for your content in quotes so there is a bit of a duplicate content issue there. Google webmaster tools does have a section for moving domains and updating the new one though. It's under site configuration / change of address.

Another thing, looking at your link profile, I can see a lot of the links you have are on pages that have also not been indexed or are on pages that have like a ton of other links already on the page. It's been said that Google has trouble crawling pages with more than 100 or so links. Have you done an ezine article or other big article directory article?

    Just a few more ideas,
    Chris

    Hey Chris,

Yes, i did maybe 4 ezine, 4 hubpages, 1 buzzle, 3-5 goarticles. They showed in the yahoo explorer but now dont. Also, I am ranking on the first pages of yahoo and bing, that means the page has some page rank...no?

So i searched for the first site, and manually redirected all the pages i found to the colorating pages of the new site. If i get indexed over the next week, it implies that the duplicate content was the problem. Although it shouldnt be an issue as many sites publish same content and get indexed(i know its not the best but...). We'll see. I will post an update once something happens.

    Appreciate your help, Thank you!

    Dan

Hi Dan, following up on your problem, have you gone through the change of address steps in webmaster tools? I'm still not seeing you as indexed.

Sometimes, if you buy an old blog, which the original web master had got banned, then you can have a hard time getting it indexed again... However, in your case, you're responsible for your misery. Acc to Google, if you have copies of same content on multiple URLs, they don't index all the domains, sub-domains, directories displaying dupe content...
