Question Where am I REALLY placed in google

I have a site which is designed around a particular health niche, I have had this site for a few months and have been steadily building backlinks to it.

The problem is this, if I do a keyword search on google using my pc at home, my site is listed on the bottom of page 2 or sometimes top of page 3.

If I do the same search at work or any of my laptops at home, my site is placed number 2 or 3.

I use a software called TRAFFIC TRAVIS which showss me backlinks and rankings and although the number of backlinks change everyday,my rank has always stayed at 18.

so am I ranked at 2 or 18 ???, by the way my home pc uses chrome.

Any help will be most appreciated

    Hiya Newbie,

Getting a 100% accurate ranking check is about impossible for a lot of reasons so watching your traffic grow is a better measure of how well your site is doing on the net. What rankings reports are good for is measuring how changes you make affect your site and also helping you choose what keywords to work on.

Of course that's not really what you wanted to hear, so I'll point you to Scroogle Scraper This is scroogle which basically scrapes IP's from google. Put in your search term, select the option to show however many results you want and do the search. Hit control + f to bring up your browser's search capability and type in your website's URL to pull up your result in the rankings list. This is probably about as accurate as your going to get but it's also tedious.

    Hope that helps,
    Chris

Your home machine learns what you search for - those get suggested and also filter to the top of your searches.
I use Market Samurai - it runs its queries through proxies so you get unbiased info.
