Having trouble assessing Web 2.0 competition

    Hi Tim & Anthony

I am working on my first module of the Page One training and I have found a great ling tail keyword that falls within the parameters of 10k-30k. I was thinking of using a web 2.0 site such as Hub pages, squidoo, or wetpaint as my money page.

However it appears that all three sites already rank on the 1st and second pages of Google. I have backtracked some of their links and it appears as if they may be using a similar technique to what is taught in the course. But there is no way of telling how far they took it.

Hub pages is #3 Wet paint is #11 for my main longtail and the same wetpaint is static number#1 for my main competitive keyword.

I found a domain that is only 1 year old with 3 keywords. I could not find any older with more than one keyword.

Do you have any suggestion as to which may give me the best competitive advantage?

    Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

So you are saying you see evidence of web 2.0 sites used for the keyword phrase you are thinking of promoting ?

Thats fine, and not necessarily a cause for concern. I would check the number of links. Perhaps they just created a few links and go to page one and left it ?

I assume you are using the free aged domain finder to find aged domains? It's a great way to find bargain prices domains.

Look at this post about the best type of domain to use if you have a choice of many.

I would say don't let the fact that someone has done some web 2.0 stop you from going for it!

Might be wise to watch the market samurai tutorial videos and analyze the competition to be sure!

    Regards

    Tim
