    Cool Anyone tried SYNND?

    Tim,
This is a membership site that has members bookmarking and syndicating articles for each other. Do you have an opinion on this?
Guys, anyone have anything to share if you have used this service?

I haven't used it, so can only go on the comments members have left to me via the help desk.

Generally they have not been "over the moon" with the results. But take this for what it's worth, as again I emphasize I have not used it myself.

The concept of course is good, but the danger is leaving footprints and thus undoing the good. For example if one bookmarker screws something up and links back to somewhere he should not, the search engines can find all links that bookmarker is linking to as well as links the links he has bookmarked links to, etc and then travel "back up the line" so to speak.

And then from that point on, they could if they decided to, remove the links altogether, or keep them in their index but not give them any real authority.

    Cheers

I was a member of SYNND for 3 months, and just recently canceled. My experience was great at first....... it did help my rankings by about 25- 50 positions in a 4 week period for various keywords i am targetting, mind you i started with the 500 credits and was very happy and i upgraded to the 2200 credit account. However, I didn't see great results there after, i stalled. I was doing this specifically and not involved with any other backlinking networks. SYNND is clear that it is not a backlinking solutions, it's a social buzz service that acts naturally. I bookmarked articles, Web 2.0 sites but it took me only so far. I think the secret here is generating tons of content and bookmarking them all consistently, but you eventually realize that you don't have enough credits to make a strong impact on all your content..... and when you concentrate on a few sites (with your content on it), it only takes you so far. I decided to invest in backlinking and do the bookmarking myself. I have maintained rankings, but i think that's b/c i keep building links.... if you're on page 3 or so, it might be the push you need to get to page 1. Hope this helps.

It works but an accumulation of minor inconveniences disenchanted me

I was a member for a few months - SYNDD is a genuine and well thought out idea for cooperatively generating social buzz via a range of Web2 media. The founder Charles Heflin has some very interesting ideas about Web2 marketing and is a very capabable exponent of his own theories.

However, an accumulation of minor inconveniences convinced me that the cost in my own time, in combination with the monthly sub, together exceeded the value SYNDD delivered for me. I might have perservered if I could readily have outsourced the labour element - but I could not figure how to implement that reliably.

The process of submitting articles for "buzzing" I found rather labour intensive - maybe I'm just a slow worker. SYNDD is quite picky about what it will approve and the review process takes a while, so the submission process can be frustrating. It's all in the name of quality, but unfortunately I tend to impatience and hunger for a magic bullet.

SYNDD requires a desktop robot to auto-post for other members - who collectively do the same for you. The robot is intermittently quite resource draining - thus somewhat intrusive unless you have a spare machine you can dedicated for it. There is a hosted alternative but it was far too expensive to interest me.

I'm unconvinced of the long term benefits of any link cooperative - sooner or later the footprint is rumbled and the effectiveness then quickly erodes.

Outsourced plus automated "traditional" link building is reliable and easy to track and cost/benefit analyse. I'd rather focus on what is proven to work rather than waste time on "iffy" Web2 traffic generation.

    Steve,

I appreciate you taking the time to reply to this. Yes I've read some of Charles stuff in the past (didn't realise he was behind this actually). It does all come down to time and money though doesn't it.

Be careful about the "magic bullet" thing though

Yes footprints are the real issue here, it depends on how well the attempt to cover things up. I always mention that the search engines get to see "the whole picture" when it comes to search engine results, and not just the info we see.

For example, some people might setup a google alert to see when their posts made in a network like this are indexed by google. Who is to say Google won't silently record this and associate the indexed content with the account using google alerts.

It would easily "associate" all content found with those url's on the internet, meaning the entire network (well all people who have processed the link) is discovered.

Not saying they are doing that, just that it's possible.

Let's face it, Google don't really want us SEO/affiliate marketers in the search engines much do they?

    Cheers

Still a member but technical issues are common and have not seen great results - using the free account so perhaps the limitations with free accounts prevents a good analysis.
