Good number of links per day

How many links can be built in a day to stay "under the radar" when it comes to google.

With a large number of article directoreis, web 2.0 sites aswell as bookmarking and forums, there are many options available for backlinking, obviously you don't want to link to all the sites on the first day.

    Any suggestions ?????

This thread may be of benefit to you.

    The Google sand box

The Google Sandbox supposendly affects new domains and/or sites getting links "too fast". Personally I do not think there is a specific number, it's more about consistency.

    Cheers

I've never seen this sandbox-effect yet on any site. I also think people confuse that Google seems to give fresh content (new site) a temporary boost in rankings... it's happened to me several times. Ranking very well for a week or two and maybe three weeks. Then my site is buried deep in the search results. I think there are people who are calling this a sandbox-penalty and instead I believe the "newbie boost" Google was kind enough to give the new site has expired so the site is now put to the spot where it rightly belongs.

Anyway, sometimes I get 300 backlinks to a single page in one day. Most of the time I get 5 to 15 backlinks to a page per day. Sometimes I go a week and don't get any. Then I'll come back and build 150 the next week or maybe 500. Or maybe I'll build 5 that week. I always just do it random. Up and down all the time. There is no real signature for my links except for search engines to expect it to be chaotic. Which is probably well as it should be.

I doubt highly that Google watches things on such a micro basis as day-to-day links and I'm doubtful that it is even on a week-to-week basis. Otherwise, what happens if I write an article that just happens to get picked up and become link-bait (i.e. people all over pass it around their facebook accounts and post it on blogs and so on) and suddenly that page gets 7,500 links in a single day? Would that get me a penalty for actually writing something people liked? Be kind of stupid I think if I got penalized for that. But I think perhaps it could possibly trigger a manual review by a human if my site suddenly went from an average of 70 links every two weeks to 7,500+ links in two weeks. Maybe.

But this is just my view on it. I'm no Internet Marketing guru or such.
