How does youtube work as a search engine in terms of ranking it's videos from a search query??


How do you optimize your videos so they come to the top of the youtube search for a keyword or phrase??

Is on page seo the main key factor or do text anchor keyword backlinks etc play a big role??

It doesnt seem like views or ratings really play a role?? and if your channel has your desired keyword in it does it rank higher than just a video with that keyword??

If anyone has any info or ideas on this it would be great to hear about it.

As per mine knowledge the easiest way to do it is go on a website called the 'tubeviews',you have to buy money but its really cheap and its adds views to your youtube videos.

Hey Simon,

What i noticed which seems like common sense but was a big aha moment for a slow me in the mornings

#1 The "early bird catches the worm" -- This works very well if you're going for PRODUCT, PRODUCT review, PRODUCT bonus keywords.

#2 After adding a video i use pingler.com to ping the video under it's keyword.

#3 (Not Related To Ranking But Pretty Powerful All The Same).
I sometimes use youtube to reverse engineer what others are doing and the niches they are in.

Example: reverseinternet(dot)com/domain/youtube reveals the top affiliates on youtube under the affiliate product/ids.

You then take their affiliate ids and replug them into reverseinternet(dot)com to see which niches they are in.

So if you're ever looking for a niche you've got a bit of an "unfair"(but 100% legal) advantage ^^
