Adsense Tip - Trying To Get the Right Ad Block!!

    Hi Guys,

I have just started to use adsense and have seen the content blocks which Tim and Anthony use on their site - but can't find that style in adsense set up - can anyone give me some advise where I can find the blocks which display text lines and not block ads?

Im using a 2 colums blog on WP - so can use 468 banner style or unto about 660 max width for content.

    Much appreciate any help.

    Darren

    Hi ya Darren,

    Good news and bad news

Adsense Tip - Trying To Get the Right Ad Block!!

    Hi Guys,

    The BAD news....

The adsense ads you are trying to use, eg see example our one of our web traffic newsletters are a recent change Google made to the look of "only' some adsense units.

    The changes made were;

    * Leaderboard (728x90): the title, description, and URL are now arranged in rows instead of columns (except in the case when only one ad is showing).

    * Medium and large rectangles (300x250, 336x280): the URL is now in the same line as the title

So, that's why you can't find the add format you want. It's not available.

    The GOOD news....

Our initial testing was with the "block" ads you are talking about, and the results were very good.

We think the new look is a better more natural looking ad that flows more with the page content but the block style still work.

You can bet Google will change all ads if their own testing finds one ad style works better than another.... Google want yours and ours and everyone's ads to be clicked a lot because it's more revenue for them so they will provide the best converting ads they can

Read more on the forum about AdSense ads.

    cheers

    Anthony

    Adsense Blocks

    Hey Anthony!

Well, I have just spent the last few hours trying to work it out, and found that the only way I could use the 728 ones was by installing a full page width content so I could insert the banner, this way it will obviously show the full line ads like you guys had on your news page!! (lol)

Anyhow, whilst I am building the site I have a disallow on the robots.txt - so guess until they can take a real look at the content, it will only display the default mircofinance offers - which is an old trick they have used for years from what I have found on some blogs.

Well, I am going for a blog based on the Insurance niche, found a real cool domain name which fitted well for the niche, and has ultimately a "bucket full" of relevency to the industry, so pretty lucky.

Now, whilst I have your undivided attention - how goes another question for you - with you masterful knowledge of how things work?

We have a site which is built on .net in ASPX - I know, it's a bummer of a framework but it was the affordable option. How do I serve ads on .net framework? I have tried inserting the script using the html editor, but just wont budge an inch and display anything.

Do you know any tricks which may resolve the issue?

Be good, and look forward to your reply.

    Darren

    Hi Darren,

Not really sure what to recommend here. By now you may have resolved it anyway. You should be able to deploy ads on the .net framework as it's just javascript and that plays nice with .net.

It's been a while since I used .net but I recall doing a lot of javascript with c# and it worked fine.

    This page might help

    Using JavaScript Along with ASP.NET

    Cheers
